SEAVIEW PARK – RUNS A HERD OF PURE BREED LIMOUSINE CATTLE WHICH IS SUPPLEMENTED BY A HERD OF
ANGUS/FRIESIAN CROSS CATTLE.

Limousin cattle

are a breed of highly muscled beef cattle originating from the Limousin and Marche regions of France. The Limousin is a rich gold colour, with lighter circles around the eyes and muzzle, and shading to a lighter colour on the legs. Features of the breed are its hardiness, regular breeding, easy calving, good milking qualities, fast growth and the production of exceptionally high-yielding carcases with little fat.

Limousins are popular because of their higher than average dressing percentage (ratio of carcase to live weight) and yield (ratio of meat to carcase), high feed conversion efficiency, and their ability to produce lean, tender meat. Limousin meat is finely textured, tender and low in saturated fats and cholesterol.

Initially purchasing pure bread stud stock locally, in recent years Seaview Park has imported pure French Limousin Embryos from France in an attempt to improve the quality of our stud stock and enhance true to type characteristics.Add something about pure French cow pedigrees.

All our breeding stock is registered with the Australian Limousin Breeders’ Society http://limousin.com.au/

Angus/Friesian cross cows

are black with white spots (mainly around their bellies); they are great mothers with good temperaments and very protective of their calves. The Friesian blood gives the females good size frame and milk volume, while the Angus gives them muscling. When further crossed with Limousine bulls they produce good quality calves whose beef is much sought after.

Combine the herds consist of about 100 cows calving in Spring and Autumn.

In time our aim is to run a heard of approximately 100 Pure French Limousin cows.
